# AI gateways

> Protect model traffic routed through LiteLLM or Vercel AI Gateway.

Connect Silmaril where your application routes model requests. Choose the integration that matches your gateway.

## Choose the right connection

| Gateway | Where Silmaril runs | Silmaril endpoint |
| - | - | - |
| LiteLLM | The proxy calls Silmaril before and after model requests. | Guardrail endpoint |
| Vercel AI Gateway | Your application wraps the gateway model with the TypeScript SDK. | Classify endpoint |

Silmaril provides your API key and endpoint through [deployment access](/docs/start/quickstart#get-access). Gateway credentials are configured separately.

## Verify coverage

Start with observation, confirm requests appear in Silmaril, then configure blocking for the boundaries you intend to protect. LiteLLM coverage depends on proxy guardrail configuration. Vercel coverage applies to calls made through the wrapped model. Other callers of the gateway are not automatically protected.
